Meanderings of a Fandom Magpie

Chapter 9 is now 27 pages and counting, which looks like it'll be closer to 40 pages by the time all is said and done (because, while Shuri's section is almost done, I have to write Nakia's next. THEN I'm done.)

Word count for all of "The Ability to Stop" is 123,234 words and (currently) 279 pages and counting.

While I was on vacation, I wrote about five pages, and edited the previous ten. I just wrote a page last night so we're up to 16 pages total. Since my usual chapter length is around 25-40 pages, I'm either closer to being done or not quite halfway there. Stay tuned, because I don't know which it is myself.

The structure of this chapter is a bit different, thanks to suggestions from Girlbookwrm and Escapologist (who isn't on DW but I'm working on her.) This chapter is told from the alternating viewpoints of women who are in the story, but who haven't had a full chapter. The current four women I'm planning for are Laura Barton, Ramonda, Shuri, and Nakia. Laura's section is done, and I'm writing Ramonda's now.

Shuri, I think, shall be fun. I wrote T'Challa's chapter of TATS before "Black Panther" came out, so while Shuri is close to the movie version, she's not exactly the same. She is still a genius, still very young, but she has roles and responsibilities the movie didn't touch on. And it's been a long time since I was that young---but... her story needs to be told too.

And Nakia? Gods, I love Nakia.
